Issue: UIU Configuration Process (Vista) - Computer Name feature not functioning properly.

Symptoms:

  • Having selected the Computer Name feature in the UIU, no post-deployment Computer Name dialog prompt was being presented, particularly if the Windows Welcome is enabled, regardless of the existence of data in the Sysprep answer file.

Resolution:

  • Code corrected.
  • Windows Welcome is enabled by answer file element(s) equal to false or missing, regardless of Computer Name selection.
  • Computer Name field only accepts computer name of length 15 characters or less, and only accepts valid characters. (Valid characters include only alphanumeric (A-Z, 0-9), hyphen (-), and underscore (_) characters.) Computer Name field now allows for "*" to request generated computer names.

Enhancement: Added MIMIC for missing time zones registry information

Symptoms:

  • Missing time zone information in the Windows Registry would precipitate the failure of UIU to complete.

Resolution:

  • Users are warned via MIMIC that data is missing, where possible displaying the time zones that are not missing. Users may opt to ignore the warning and the UIU will complete. Note that if the warning is ignored, missing time zones will not be selectable in Windows applications.
