Developed by Big Bang LLC and released in 2004, the Universal Imaging Utility (UIU) is the only software application able to create a true hardware independent hard drive image. Used in conjunction with existing cloning applications (Symantec Ghost, Altiris, Acronis, SCCM, etc.), the UIU creates a single Windows PC image that can be easily deployed to any business-class laptop or desktop in an environment regardless of HAL type, processors, manufacturer or model. This allows users to create and maintain only ONE master PC image for all existing and future hardware. Maintaining multiple individual images for desktops and laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. is no longer necessary, saving users tremendous time and effort.
Cloning is copying or "capturing" the entire contents of one hard drive and putting or "deploying" that copy or "image" on another hard drive. Cloning automatically formats the target drive and saves time by eliminating the process of manually installing the operating system and basic applications on individual machines. This is particularly helpful when users perform a large rollout of new hardware or support multiple users in need of a computer that works, and a computer that works NOW. A good rule of thumb is if an organization is large enough to have an IT department, cloning is a part of their daily reality. While simple cloning applications save an immeasurable amount of time and money, they also have their limitations. The UIU was developed specifically to address these limitations and enhance the efficiency of the cloning process.
Cloning applications, such as Symantec Ghost, are a necessary part of any large organization, and the UIU does not replace them. Instead, the UIU goes to work on the base machine before the image is captured, while the rest of the cloning process is largely unchanged.
Users set up the base machine exactly like they normally would-install the OS and basic applications, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and anti-virus software. At this point, the user runs the UIU on the base machine to prepare it for hardware-independent deployment. When the UIU is complete, the user simply captures the image with their existing cloning application and deploys that single image to a variety of different hardware configurations…Desktops, laptops, Dell, HP, uniprocessor, multiprocessor, old, new, it doesn't matter. The UIU prepared image will work on any machine in their environment.

Upon becoming an authorized Distributor or Reseller, your company will be integrated into the Big Bang Sales Portal (BBSP). The programs are very similar with one important difference. The UIU Reseller Program does not include marketing or sales minimums. You are free to set your own goals based on how rapidly you would like to grow your business. The UIU Distributor Program does include minimums for sales and marketing efforts to qualify to stay in the program from year-to-year. However, the UIU Distributor Program allows for up to 40% discounts of the software, so you stand to earn a much larger percentage of anything you sell. In addition, UIU Distributors are also free to maintain their own base of UIU Resellers, so you can grow your sales in a larger variety of ways.
